This one-hour course introduces builders and permit technicians to the foundational building
code knowledge needed to successfully prepare, review, and submit permit applications.
Participants will gain a working understanding of the most commonly referenced building
codes, how those codes references influence construction requirements, and what information
must be included on permit applications for approval. The course emphasizes real-world
application, helping participants identify key code-related details—like occupancy classification,
construction type, egress requirements, and fire-resistance ratings—that impact plan review
and inspections. Designed for both field and office professionals, this class bridges the
communication gap between plan reviewers and staff preparing construction documents.
