Battery Backup for the Southeast- Alternative Energy Source for Homes
The Advanced Workforce Ready Project has identified four electrification technologies that are under-utilized within the Southeast, but currently face barriers to adoption. Battery Backup has been a hot topic since the 12 heat-related deaths during Hurricane Irma that were attributed to power outage. Yet ProPublica reported that gas generators are among the deadliest appliances in the country. Electric Battery Backup can provide a safer alternative to help small business and consumers weather the storms that so frequently blow through. We will also introduce participants to resources the US Department of Energy has developed to support businesses who offer EVR to consumers.
